The Annual Club Dinner this year will now take place on 1st April. The Guest of Honour will be General Sir Patrick Sanders, whose tenure as Chief of the General Staff ended last June. Members and guests will be welcomed with drinks in the Drawing Room followed by a three-course dinner in the Pall Mall Room. We kindly advise you to book in advance as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
General Sanders, like the Rag’s new Chairman and this evening’s host, Neil Johnson, also a Green Jacket, is one of his generation’s most distinguished officers serving in Northern Ireland, mainland Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He was born in a garrison military hospital which proved prophetic. His higher command appointments were 20 Armoured Brigade, the 3rd (UK) Division, and the Field Army, with promotion to General in May 2019. He is well-known for speaking truth to power so thoughts he will be invited and encouraged to share on this occasion will be hugely compelling. So, this is reason alone to join other members for this annual landmark gathering in the Rag calendar.
NB: As is widely accepted, any Tomfoolery on this date must cease by noon or the perpetrator is the fool. At the same time, an evening ahead that will offer both serious discussion and levity, as well as fine fare and wines commensurate with the Guest of Honour and attendees.
